Tangent from: Into the Sunset
Last week, Mike and I checked out the MoMA exhibition Into the Sunset.
I’m no art critic, so this will not be a detailed review. I will, however, offer the highlights of our trip.
1) Mike taught me a thing or two about Cindy Sherman.
. . .
2) There was beautiful landscape photography.
. . .
3) Also, great images from then…
… and now.
. . .
4) Mike fell in love with Larry Sultan’s work…
…and I fell in love with what looks like a Hell’s Angels fashion spread.
. . .
5) Of course there were cowboys.
. . .
It was certainly worth seeing, but watch out for highfalutin language. We walked into the middle of a discussion about an “obtusely Keynesian” work.

Did you happen to see the movie about Cindy Sherman – Guest of Cindy Sherman? I think it’s playing for a few more days in NYC. If you really want to learn a lot about her, this will really entertain you tons.

Hey Trish, thanks for making me famous!
As I said, that last picture brings to mind the amazing video I saw at PS1 last year: Salla Tykka’s “Lasso”.

I just rewatched it, and holy crap it’s great. Though I think you could score almost anything with Ennio Morricone and it would be sweet. Witness this sick Nike commercial for LaDanian Tomlinson and Troy Polamalu (directed by David Fincher):

I’ve been meaning to check that out! But it’s members only only on Target Free Fridays
@ Jessica – Thanks for the suggestion!
@ Cheyenne – I’m a member. Let me know when you’re free and I’ll go with you. We should catch up soon anyway.
@ Mike – Nice!
that Nike video your pal Mike posted is cool…and reminded me of THIS: http://www.vimeo.com/4155700
which i just watched the other day…beautiful and touching.
@ Lara – what a sweet video. Beautiful indeed. Thanks for sharing it!
